Solar Energy for Farmers

How Solar Panels Work

Solar panels, also known as photovoltaic (PV) panels, convert sunlight into electricity. They absorb sunlight using photovoltaic cells, generate direct current (DC) electricity, and use an inverter to convert it into alternating current (AC) for use on your farm.

Equipment Needed

To set up a solar panel system, you’ll need solar panels, an inverter, mounting structures, wiring, and optionally, battery storage and a charge controller.

Benefits for Farmers

Solar energy reduces electricity costs, provides energy independence, and is environmentally friendly. It also increases property value and requires low maintenance.

Cost Efficiency

The initial investment for a solar panel system can be recovered within 4–7 years through savings on electricity bills. After that, the energy generated is essentially free.
